WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Michael Carter, better known as DJ Mikey C., grew up surrounded by the sounds of Motown, soul, R&B, jazz, and classic dance music. Music wasn't simply entertainment—it was a way of life.
As a teenager, he began spinning records at neighborhood DJ jam sessions and college parties, where he discovered his passion for reading the crowd, creating energy, and bringing people together.
Those Brooklyn roots continue to inspire every event he DJs today.
BUILDING A CAREER AND A FAMILY
After moving to the Twin Cities, Michael built a successful 40-year corporate career while raising his family. Along the way, he developed the leadership, professionalism, and customer-first mindset that define his work today.
Although career and family became his priority, his passion for music never faded. Now retired from corporate leadership, he has returned to the dream that first inspired him as a teenager—bringing people together through music.

Today, DJ Mikey C. specializes in Soulful Grown Folks' Music, creating unforgettable experiences through the timeless sounds of Motown, R&B, soul, funk, disco, smooth jazz, and crossover classics.
Known for smooth transitions, exceptional song selection, and an instinct for reading the room, he creates events where people laugh, dance, reconnect, and make lasting memories.
His goal is simple:
